Description

“Bhartiya Samosa Chutney” refers to the tangy and flavorful chutney often served as a dipping sauce or accompaniment with samosas, a popular Indian snack. There are various types of chutneys that can be served with samosas, but one of the most common ones is the tamarind chutney, also known as Imli ki Chutney. Here’s a basic recipe for Bhartiya Samosa Chutney:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup tamarind pulp (seedless)
  • 1 cup jaggery (gur), grated or chopped
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder (bhuna jeera powder)
  • 1 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (lal mirch)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder (saunth)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder (kali mirch)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine tamarind pulp and jaggery. Add water as needed to achieve a pouring consistency.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the jaggery completely.
  3. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chutney thickens slightly.
  4. Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, red chili powder, ginger powder, black pepper powder, and salt to the chutney. Mix well to combine.
  5. Continue to simmer the chutney for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches the desired consistency. If the chutney becomes too thick, you can add a little more water to adjust the consistency.
  6. Once the chutney is ready, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely.
  7. Transfer the cooled chutney to a clean, airtight jar and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Serve Bhartiya Samosa Chutney with freshly fried or baked samosas for a delicious and tangy flavor combination. Adjust the spice levels and sweetness according to your taste preferences. Enjoy your homemade chutney!
